The Wall Street Journal: The US economy is expected to cool down from here on out: “Growth likely hit a high point in the second quarter and will slow as the boosts from fiscal stimulus and reopenings fade, economists say.”

CNBC: Wondering where efforts to raise the federal minimum wage stand now? Here’s a breakdown.

Reuters: Homebuilding in the US increased more than expected in June, “but permits for future home construction fell to an eight-month low, likely reflecting hesitancy caused by expensive building materials as well as shortages of labor and land.”

NPR: Restaurant workers are quitting at a record rate, and there are a variety of reasons that could be happening – low pay, no benefits, and rude customers being some of them.

Small Business Trends: According to new research, “more than 85% of consumers want full visibility into shipping timelines before making any online purchase.”

Forbes: Payment solutions company Square, founded by billionaire Jack Dorsey, has launched a small business checking account “to the surprise of absolutely no one.”

Axios: Consumers are complaining about higher prices these days, but buying anyway, according to this Axios report.

Study Finds: According to a recent study by OnePoll, “1 in 5 small business owners were on the brink of closing forever during the pandemic.”
