Counting Down the News this week: Simplifying PPP forgiveness, increased competition in the gig economy, security concerns when working from home, and more.

CNBC: Security concerns don’t go away just because employees are working from home; if anything, there’s even more to worry about. Here’s how some firms are keeping their staff and secrets safe.

MarketWatch: Google is just one of many companies extending their work-from-home policies through 2020, 2021, or indefinitely.

Forbes: Feeling stressed about applying for PPP forgiveness? You aren’t the only one. This article walks through some of the measures that have been added to reduce compliance burdens and simplify the process.

CNN Business: What does the Twitter hack tell us about potential security risks of working from home?

Vox: The coronavirus pandemic has had sweeping effects on countless industries. Entertainment is one of them.

Reuters:  U.S. consumer confidence fell more than expected this month “amid a flare-up in COVID-19 infections across the country, which is threatening the economy’s recovery from an unprecedented recession caused by the pandemic.”

Small Business Trends: According to a new study by Lending Tree, the level of pessimism in the business community varies from city to city – but “an increasing number of small business owners are saying their businesses won’t return to normal.”

CNBC: The unemployment levels are pushing more and more people to seek out gig work, making it harder for those who were gig workers before the recession to continue making a living amidst higher competition.

Entrepreneur: Before COVID-19, a transformation was already occurring in the way we work. The pandemic has only accelerated those trends.

CNN: Not every PPP loan was put to good use. One man in Miami, FL used his on hotels, jewelry and $318,497 Lamborghini.
