Details of Secretive Alliantgroup "Court-Ordered Raid" Appear to Be Imminent

Details of Secretive Alliantgroup
Details of a secretive "court-ordered raid" of Alliantgroup's Houston, Texas headquarters could be released imminently.

Per a recent article about the May 2022 raid, a new rumor "has it a grand jury hearing will be held at the federal courthouse in downtown Houston on June 23 related to the raid."

If this information turns out to be correct, it is likely that the grand jury will be determining if enough evidence exists for criminal charges to be filed. The previously mentioned report also indicated that multiple Alliantgroup employees have been subpoenaed to provide testimony when the grand jury convenes.

At this time, little is known about the May 24 raid of Alliantgroup. A spokesperson for the firm -- which bills itself as "The Nation's Leader" in taxes -- confirmed the search in a statement to Accounting Today, saying, "IRS employees issued an inquiry at our building Friday morning. We look forward to understanding the government's queries and we are fully cooperating with them. We expect when the complete facts are known, this matter will be amicably resolved. Meanwhile, our offices are open and fully operational."

The situation is akin to the recent drama at CohnReznick. Three partners at the large accounting firm were named when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued "improper conduct sanctions."

Both of these federal investigations should serve as cautionary tales to CPAs around the United States -- a reminder of how important it is to audit properly and follow all federal and state regulations when working with clients.
